Pre-Approved Continuing Education (CE) Opportunities
PACB is pleased to provide access to pre-approved continuing education (CE) opportunities to support the ongoing professional development of Board Certified Patient Advocates. We believe that continuous learning is essential to competent, ethical, and effective advocacy, both for individual growth and for the advancement of the profession as a whole.
We encourage certificants to review our Position Paper on Professional Development to better understand PACB’s perspective on the importance of lifelong learning in patient advocacy.
Disclaimer on Pre-Approved (CE)
PACB’s role is limited to certifying that continuing education (CE) content aligns with the Domains of Practice required for Board Certified Patient Advocates (BCPAs). We do not oversee the business operations, pricing, or access policies of the organizations that develop or sponsor CE programs.
No Fees to Submit – But Access May Vary
There is no cost to BCPAs to submit earned preapproved CEs toward your renewal. However, individual CE providers may charge fees for access to their content. Some offer member discounts, while others may make sessions freely available. These decisions are entirely at the discretion of the sponsoring organization.
Session Links and Content Availability
Sponsoring organizations are required to submit a valid URL at the time of approval. However, sponsors may move or remove content without notifying PACB, which can result in broken or outdated links.
Live Attendance vs. On-Demand Access
CE credit is issued at the discretion of the sponsoring organization, and credit eligibility varies by provider:
- Some organizations issue CE credit only for live attendance, whether the session is virtual or in person.
- Others may offer a live version followed by an on-demand recording, but CE credit may only be available only for the live version unless otherwise noted.
- If you are unsure whether a session qualifies for CE credit after the live event, contact the sponsoring organization directly before participating in the on-demand version.
PACB does not determine how credit is issued or tracked by the provider. Always confirm the eligibility criteria with the session sponsor to ensure the activity meets your recertification needs.
What You Can Expect from PACB
PACB does not determine how credit is issued or tracked by the provider. Always confirm the eligibility criteria with the session sponsor to ensure the activity meets your recertification needs.
- If you encounter a nonworking link or cannot find a previously listed session:
- Contact the sponsoring organization directly.
We review and approve CE programs that support BCPA recertification.
- We do not endorse, host, or control external content.
- We do not mediate access issues with CE sponsors.
- PACB cannot verify availability or provide access to third-party content.
